About Milwaukee Sign Company
VIEW GALLERYSince 2013, Milwaukee Sign Company has been the custom signage partner for businesses across Greater Milwaukee. From our workshop in Sussex, Wisconsin, we design, fabricate, and install commercial signs that help local businesses stand out — channel letters, monument signs, vehicle wraps, lobby signage, wayfinding systems, and a full range of indoor and outdoor signs. We’re locally owned, locally rooted, and built around dependable craftsmanship and consistent installations.
Our Story
Milwaukee Sign Company was founded in 2013 with a simple goal: give Greater Milwaukee businesses a sign shop that delivers quality work, on time, without the runaround. Over the past 13 years, we’ve grown from a small Sussex workshop into a full-service custom signage operation serving more than 40 cities across the Greater Milwaukee, Waukesha County, and Racine–Kenosha corridor.
Today, we work with everyone from neighborhood storefronts to multi-tenant commercial properties, real estate firms, auto dealerships, healthcare facilities, manufacturers, and contractors who need signage that reflects the quality of their business.
What We Do
We’re a full-service custom sign company. That means we handle every stage of a sign project in-house — from initial design concept through fabrication, permitting, and on-site installation. Most of our customers come to us because they want one trusted partner who can take a project from “we need a sign” to “the sign is up and looking great” without coordinating across multiple vendors.
Our core services include:
- Channel Letter Signs — fabricated dimensional letters, illuminated or non-illuminated, for storefront identity
- Monument Signs — ground-mounted signs for office parks, retail centers, and commercial properties
- Pylon and Pole Signs — high-visibility roadside signage for retail and commercial sites
- Lobby Signs — dimensional reception signage for offices, clinics, and corporate interiors
- Vehicle Wraps — full or partial wraps for cars, trucks, vans, and fleets
- Custom Banners — printed vinyl banners for events, promotions, and grand openings
- Yard Signs — for real estate, political campaigns, contractors, and events
- Wayfinding Signs — interior and exterior directional systems
- Lighted Signs — illuminated cabinets, channel letters, and monument signs
If you don’t see what you need on this list, just ask. Most of our work is custom anyway.
How We Work
Most sign projects we take on follow the same general flow:
- Consultation. We start with a conversation about what you’re trying to communicate, where the sign will live, and any constraints — landlord requirements, municipal code, brand guidelines, budget. Often this is a phone call or a site visit.
- Design. Our team creates concepts based on the consultation. You see proofs and request revisions. Nothing moves into production until you approve a final design.
- Permitting. For most outdoor signs in Wisconsin, you’ll need a permit from your local municipality. We handle the paperwork — pulling permits, navigating zoning, and making sure the sign complies with local code before we fabricate.
- Fabrication. We build your sign in our Sussex shop. You’re welcome to visit and see the work in progress.
- Installation. Our installation crew handles the on-site work — including bucket trucks, electrical hookup for illuminated signs, and concrete footings for monument signs where needed.
- Warranty and support. Sign components carry manufacturer warranties; we stand behind our installation work and remain available for service calls.

Why Local Businesses Choose Us
A few of the things our customers tell us matter:
- In-house fabrication. We build signs in our own shop. That means quality control, faster timelines on revisions, and no outsourced surprises.
- Local accountability. When something needs servicing two years from now, we’re still here in Sussex and we’ll come out.
- End-to-end ownership. Design, permitting, fabrication, installation — one team, one project manager, one point of contact.
- Reputation. We’re rated 5.0 out of 5 stars across 65+ Google reviews from local businesses we’ve served. We work hard to keep it that way.
